About Carol Meerschaert
Carol M. Meerschaert (pronounced "mer-shart"), is the Director of Marketing and Communications for the Healthcare Businesswomen's Association. Carol also serves on the board of the Foundation at Great Valley to help support the Great Valley School district.
Prior to her move to Pennsylvania, Carol worked as a marketing consultant, and freelance writer in Falmouth, Maine. Carol was the Marketing Director of Catch a Piece of Maine in Portland, Maine, where she worked with the greatest group of people!
Carol has brought her client's messages to television on CNN and to newspapers including The Boston Globe and The Wall Street Journal. Carol also communicates client's messages through bylined articles in magazines such as Running Times, Vegetarian Times and Today’s Dietitian as well as other publications reaching the target audience.
She currently serves on the editorial advisory board for Today’s Dietitian magazine. She was also honored with the Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year Award (1996) and the Outstanding Nutrition Entrepreneur Award (1996).
Carol earned an MBA from the University of Southern Maine School of Business, and a BS degree in Nutrition and Dietetics with highest honors from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. She also earned a Certificate in Leadership from the American Dietetic Association.
Carol is the author of the CD ROM Eat Your Herbs (Food and Health Communications 1998); cookbook Good News About Good Food and the WINE- Well informed Nutrition Educator handouts on supplements and herbs. She is the co-author of Integrative Medicine: Your Quick Reference Guide (Integrative Medicine, Inc. 1997) and co-author of the continuing professional education course Minerals from Plant Foods (American Dietetic Association 2002).
Carol’s writing has appeared in numerous Web sites and magazines. She is a regular contributor to Today’s Dietitian and was a nutrition columnist for the Leicester Journal and Today’s Parent. She has delivered continuing education lectures for a variety of professionals in 22 states.
